空気消費量と空気流量の違いは、時には特定の同単位を使用している為、混乱することがあります。
空気消費量は所定の時間期間中にシステムで空気の量が使用されているもの。空気流量は空気が消費される速度である。
例えば、毎分動作するように1秒かかって、残り59秒休止して、サイクル当たりの空気の100リットルを消費しているシステム：
空気消費量：100 L/min
空気流量： 6000L/min
流量は、コントロールシステム部品がシリンダーに与えられスピードのパワーに要求される時に重要な要素です。
